Paul Kieve is now a holder of
a Guinness World Record. The certificate was awarded to him in
August 2003 for his work on the Olivier Award Winning musical "Our
House" which involved the lead actor changing costume a record
29 times each performance to enable the "Sliding Doors" style
narrative to be enacted. Paul designed quick-changed costumes to
enable the fastest change, including shoes, to occur in just 4
seconds! Paul has also been appointed as an official consultant
to Guinness World Records.

2003
Scrooge The Musical, based on the 1973
movie by Leslie Bricusse, is to tour the UK in a new version produced
by Bill Kenwright. Paul first created effects for the show in 1993
and it toured extensively to great critical acclaim - culminating
in a West End run in 1996. The new version will open on October
16th at the Birmingham Hippodrome & will star Tommy Steele.
As well as recreating original work the show will feature several
new illusions devised by Paul. Other dates so far announced include
Plymouth Theatre Royal, Edinburgh Playhouse and a Christmas run
at the Liverpool Empire. Paul is looking foreword to collaborating
once again with "Blood Brother's" Director Bob Tomson
on the project.
Our House,
recipient of the 2003 Olivier Award for Best New Musical, is
to close on August 16th after a
run of 10 months. The show features a “Sliding Doors” style
storyline in which the lead character has a choice of two paths
in life - and splits both ways! The story required ingenious staging
and many lightning fast costume changes. Paul's work in the show
will hopefully contribute to a Guinness World Record for the most
number of costume changes in a West End show. The record attempt
will be formally attempted in the second week of August. Mark Cook
in the Evening Standard writes: "Michael
Jibson's lightning costume changes defy belief".
